Did you know that rats in captivity always prefer drugged water to regular drinking water every single time, and that they die from overdose eventually?
What's interesting is that if you adjust the parameters of these experiments, and give rats an environment where they can play with other rats and interact with objects around them, as opposed to being confined in empty white boxes like in previous experiments, they forego the drugged water and never overdose. This should give you a perspective on things if you think about this a little.
