Allowing Saudi Arabia to control the great oil fields in the middle east was the single largest mistake the US government ever made in its 300+ year history as a country.

>how? the petrodollar has been very good for america
The USA had ALL the negotiating power in the early 1900s when oil was becoming a serious commodity. The House of Saud had NOTHING.

We had a massive military. We had the technology and scientific understanding to discover the oil fields and to harvest the oil. We did all the engineering work. The Saudis didn't do SHIT.

The entire state of saudi arabia exists on the back of American work for which we aren't really collecting as much as we deserve

what should have happened is that we should've just wiped out the house of saud and made the modern state of saudi arabia into a US colony like the philippines or whatever

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the modern USA dumbfuck. We are the wealthiest nation in the history of the planet. We are incredibly successful.

I am just saying we could have been so much more successful had we not fumbled Saudi Aramco so hard as a nation.

it's always these rhetorical master slave relationship with your kind
saudi dont need to be no slave nor colony
we have a good relationship with them and i think it should be kept that way
you just try to rile up people and make everything worse
and yes i think the gulf monarchies are the best chance the middle east has for modernization

I am not saying that they should be masters or slaves, I am saying they should not exist at all

the house of saud numbered in the dozens in the early 1900s and are in the thousands today

the house of saud had nothing in the early 1900s and has TRILLIONS today

they aren't an ethical group, and yes a part of this is the extrajudicial killings, but a more serious part is that the only reason they even have their wealth is because the West fumbled when pulling out of the middle east.

aramco is literally arab american oil company
though it's kinda bullshit that just cause american companies found it and drilled it theyre entitled to it into perpetuity
i think the way saudi arabia handled it was about as good and fair for both sides as was possible
they couldve just nationalized it with zero compensation but they didnt
