I've just read some Spanish and can't shake off the feeling that it's a very low-prestige language and that it resembles Russian in practical sense a lot: basically the only reason to learn it is sex tourism, its culture is very obscure etc. Maybe I should just stop at German? Or give a chance to France? Or just shut up and proceed with Spanish?
Okay, if you convince me that nafris are at least somewhat manageable, I'll start French. Spanish is just too poor and Russian-like for me, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to overcome that.

Okay, I guess I can rule Spanish out at last. So it's either French or nothing.
If I start French, what can I do with it? There are only like three books I want to read in it. Should I supplant most of my use of English with French or something? But why not with Russian or German then?
I also recall there was a Swiss French anon saying that French is handicapped and narrow-minding and that he uses only English since he'd learned it.
>>213689662Dude, every language besides English (and Japanese for weebs) is a waste of time. Unless you have actual business in that language, the only reason to learn is personal interest. I think Spain and Latin American culture are very interesting, to me Spanish is very compelling. But if you aren't into it, you can't force yourself. Learn French instead? Why? Like you said, most of the speakers of French are Africans and/or muzzies now. Are you going to learn French to read Voltaire or something? Probably not. It's a waste of time, too. There is no prestige to learning any European language. You either need an actual need OR you need a deep real interest. Anyone that is interested in French enough would just ignore my shit talking and keep learning, though. That's what you need to find.
Keep in mind, even after learning the language, you have to maintain exposure. It's a life-long thing.
>>213691313>even after learning the language, you have to maintain exposureYeah exactly, and if you don't have a defined and particular field where you'd use the language, you have to cut off a share of content from another language to find a use for the new one.
>and Japanese for weebsAlso German for all non-Germanic Europeans, also Latin and Greek for lovers of the classics etc. Most languages have their own niche, but I don't quite understand what the French's niche actually is. It's just like English but more restricted and smaller in scale. Is that it?

Also, how actually cool are the French overseas territories?
Okay, seemingly it's really over this time, I barely have any actual use for French. I stick to Russian, English, and German. Perhaps maybe much later in life I'll learn Mandarin or Hebrew but definitely not now.
At least all of this made me appreciate my mother tongue, Russian. I'm not going to assimilate into inferior cultures just to beat a polyglot strike or whatever.

>>213714518I am in conflict with my friends and Italians, and for various other reasons I couldn't go on holidays as I had planned.
I'm thinking about going back to Italian. I like how polite forms are important in languages, like in Italian, maybe French (I don't know if the French still use them, or if it's just an archaism for learners), or German or maybe Spanish, but they are also more chill.
Italian also seemed less important globally than Spanish and French and has less cultural impact than Japanese. I am also annoyed by Anglicisms in Italian, at least Spaniards pronounce them in their own way. But overall liked the language.

tip for sounding better: instead of saying comparação, say contraste since it gives the idea of two really different things. comparação could be used for things that are kind of the same but differ in something and needs further explanation to explicit what exactly is being compared. usually people wouldnt end the sentence there with comparação but with contraste its good.

I chit-chat here and there, shout "hey" from the other end of the street every day to some people, help people carry things, tell construction workers how to do their jobs, play with girls' dogs.
The most important thing is to judge people by their appearance, then you minimize the risk of talking with some head fucked people.

Fuck. On the one hand, I want to leave Japanese for later because it is the most difficult, but on the other hand, I want to start learning it now so that I can see results as soon as possible.
Italian would be the easiest because I know something already, has the easiest pronunciation, and Polish has many borrowings from Italian. But switching to Spanish doesn't seem difficult.
So it's Japanese / German + Italian / Spanish

>>213705080>>213713437Yes. I read 鼠の嫁入り(nezumi no yomeiri) for immersion, which I enjoyed, then peeked at 浦島太郎(urashima tarou). I'll probably go back to it after I reach a high enough level from weeb stuff that I don't need to look up a new word every sentence.
I want to learn a language for the sake of having something to grind, use Anki for, and I guess look cultured, but I have no motivation for content of any language.
