When I was quitting drinking I would buy a bottle of alcohol, and then poor the entire thing down the drain. It was a challenge of will power, and it felt amazing to have control. I had spent money on it so the rational thing to do was to drink it and not let it go to waste but to poor it down the drain showed I had full control over myself. I did this with cigarettes as well. I would buy a pack and they throw it out. I did this alot of time with all my favorite alcohols.
