more like the shipper has to pay a much bigger cost on imports, like 100 million is now 130 million. you can't really pull 30 million dollars out of your ass.. so they buy less to mitigate risk. obviously then consumers will be less likely to spend 30% more so sales on those fewer imports also decrease.

it's basically a good way to hit the brakes on consumer spending. I think we're all fucked. but the economy was already on the slide under Biden. Trump inherited a good economy from oboingo and put it in free fall and nobody has corrected it yet
