serbian monarchism is both the strongest and weakest current in the serbian right wing.
During communism the crown was dissolved and the king stayed in the uk since they are interbreed with them and recognized as a royal family there so they have some legitimacy.
In the late 1980s multi party system was returned and the biggest opposition party to communism was a liberal nationalist monarchist party running on the platform that it will have a referendum on the question.
In the 1990 election the choice was socialism or this monarchist party,but a series of fuck ups affairs and a media blitz made it so serbia was the only to majority vote for socialists.

Ever since that failure the monarchist right has been trying to cope the biggest wasted opportunity in history and kept dividing itself trying to figure out a angle to return itself.
They had some success the royal family returned in the 2000s and got some legal recognition,a crown was added to the flag as a bone to them and a legal framework exists for a nordic libdem royal system hybrid thing.
Right now the bigger center right wing parties all sort of agree on monarchism but this nordic cucked variety.
The church is divided on the topic.
The average serb dosent care but i think that it could pass on the referendum if done right.

The biggest hurdle it that the king is a retarded crypto bro and a massive pussy his father(or grandpa?) was a soldier that participated in combat so it was easier to market him then his s0y son.

The Royal dynasty is a machine too, one which is more than willing to spill blood to increase its power. 1/3rd of the population of France died in the Hundred Years war due to the petty dynastic squabbles of the ruling dynasties of England and France.
