When I was young I thought the European union was an awesome idea but now when they're actively encouraging their countries to deindustrialize as if "green energy" can sustain economic growth and they waste hundreds of billions of taxpayer money for little in return I don't understand the point of it. At least the poor countries get gibs so they have a reason to be in the union, i don't know what the fuck the other member states are thinking when they're routinely getting fucked over by America instead of trying to compete with it. And they mask this with irrelevant shit like forcing big corporations to adopt a different charger for phones or creating those stupid bottlecaps and act like those are some huge wins

the reason for deindustralization is that developed economies should not be based on low value added goods but on high value added services. There's only so many ways you can make steel and be competitive, there's really no way to do manufacturing and pay first world salaries without destroying the thin margins and doubling prices on the final goods.
