Germans are still salty about Padborg and if they had a chance they would sacrifice 2 million young blonde blue-eyed men to get this small town back.

Danes like doing shopping in Germany because it's much cheaper.

was it? I think Denmark might have been on average more rural but I guess Danish cities were more or less on the same level like German cities (just they had fewer cities overall) and Danish farms were as advanced, if not more, than German farms.

Rural doesn't mean backward. They might have been their economy based on agriculture in a higher proportion than Germany but their agriculture was so advanced and developed so they actually had a very high standard of living. It's like saying that New Zealand is a "backward" place.

Americans can't understand European hatreds because you never permanently lost land to another country where subsequently fellow Americans would have had to live as second class citizens in another country.
Imagine if California or Texas was annexed by Mexico and English was outlawed and everyone forced to learn and speak Spanish in public and children were beaten for speaking English in school, all government officials and police were Mexicans with zero Anglo representation.
These are the reasons why there is a never-ending hatred in all European hearts for every single country that ever got any territories from them and killed/expelled/assimilated their countrymen. One day it will all be gotten back and paid back with blood
