you have the speaker of the European parliament who is also called president for some reason
you have the president of the commission and that title is also more not really a president
then you have this guy who is the president (also more like speaker) of the EU council
the EU council is the council of all heads of states of the union
the parliament is the one you vote in the euroelections
the commission is the one who gets formed with both approval of the council and the parliament
the commission is kinda like the government, but different, the council is the one who can decide to make new rules and is basically something like constitutional council in many ways. Always votes on big laws.
you have the right to be confused because foreign leaders often ask that if they wanna talk to the EU then who do they talk to? The leaders of the biggest states? The EU? Who leads the EU? The states ultimately? Who is the president? It has three fucking presidents? What the fuck?
