The fact that the Axis forces later acted in a barbaric way towards the native population unfortunately tainted an otherwise totally justified action. It was also extremely stupid since the locals, including many Russians, not just non-Russians,hoped the Axis would liberated them from Bolshevik oppression and could have helped brink down Stalin
Only very late and too few numbers did the Nazis accept collaboration with them.

Finland immediately took all the land back for the duration of Operation Barbarossa and closed the siege ring so the Winter War was a complete own goal from that perspective. It just made it 100 % certain that the land would be used for the specific purpose that the Winter War was supposed to prevent.

Should have done more than just close the ring though, the Germans offered us bombers and artillery but cuck Mannerheim overruled it. Next time we won't have some Russia-sympathizer in charge.
