I think Bucharest got its name first, because Budapest was originally two separate cities that grew and merged into one, Pest was the original capital of Hungary, named after the brother of Attila the Hun.

They sound different in each language
Bucureศ™ti should be spelled something like Bukureshty or Boukoureshty for English speakers but Anglo media just lazily took the French form and switched a k with ch.

Bleda is the brother of Attila, not "Pest".

The cleaner part I have to disagree with, as this anon says>>213840655 a lot of it does have a slightly shabby, post-Soviet look. But I preferred Budapest to Vienna; best food of any place I have been (includes Tokyo, Paris, Naples, NYC etc)

This is true because the was not a permanent bridge between the two sides until 1849 and even then it was mostly used for commerce as it had a toll
In terms of statistics it was often treated as one entity though, you can find "Pesth and Buda" in some census from the 1800s

Vienna is definitely a lot more cleaner and more modern. It definitely has more of an East European feel to it too with the housing projects etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpiOARGKAwg

That being said I like the vibe of the city a bit better, I think the peaks are a bit higher in the nicest areas and if the two cities were equally upkept it would be a nicer city. But Vienna is a lot more clean and modern and functional

>>213842846
Eventually it is going to gentrify very slowly. The inner area and Corvin is nice, the developments around Ludovika will gentrify that area too probably

>>213842918
It does not help that district mayors are rather incompetent and don't care about anything. If every single district was managed like District VI it would be much better

>>213843271
No, in general the government takes money away from every area with an economic activity regardless of who they voted for. Debrecen gets even more cucked even though it is their large base

Bucharest. Buda and Pest used to be different twin cities. Pest-Buda was the way to refer to it. Because Pest was way bigger. When it was united Buda was taken in the front, because it was the ancient capital.

ร“buda is not real.

In Russian it's Budapesht and Buharest.
So they're not so close.
