the actual real answer is that fish and chips used to not cost an arm and a leg
it was a cheap and cheerful takeout to have on a friday or a saturday that didnt break the bank
now it costs almost as much as a chinese or an indian and if you're going to pay that much, you might as well have a chinese or an indian
