I once read a guidebook for Polish immigrants to America from late 19th century and there was a hint that if a Pole has any question or problem he should go to a black person first because they're most helpful and honest, meanwhile Anglos don't treat Poles like fully human and will most likely not help. Maybe that's where the Polish-African friendship started.
