This "controversy" is stupid because no matter what consumers lose: either they'll charge everyone the higher price for all the power or they'll just remove the option to buy the extra power after sale. Nobody gave a fuck 20 years ago all Toyotas had cruise control logic in the ECU and the only difference was whether you had the plastic button to turn it on.
