Israel used to be a respectable country until the mid 90s.
It's not about the boomers: they were objectively honorable in their legitimate ambition to build a country for the Jews, with armed forces for self defence and all.
The two-state solution was considered the normal outcome for the Palestinian issue and there were talks and a peace building process.

Then Yitzhak Rabin was murdered and the talks stopped and the far right formations got political traction for 30 years, the peace process was sabotaged (not that the Palestinians acted any better obviously: they went to shit too but that's another matter) and here we are, with the "inevitable" massacre of tens of thousands of civilians, and the aim of taking all the land through military superiority.

tldr: the problem isn't with Israel but with its far right

Palestinian opinion is pretty much that they want a dignified solution and felt sold out by the PLO because Oslo allowed Israel to effectively take over the west bank and expand settlements. between israels population centers and jordan there are the judea and samaria mountains which make the border defendable, between us and egypt, a mountainous desert (besides gaza). on the flip hand, the arabs in judea and samaria are 15 kilometers of flatlands from our biggest cities and 0 kilometers from our capital. it would be suicide to give a people who see that as theirs any independence and free flow of iranian weapons.
