then it was probably some total fiction, overall WASPs were rather indifferent about Poles, mostly because Poles only worked in the lowest positions in heavy industry, sometimes farming (almost all Poles immigrating to the US were illiterate peasants), and these jobs weren't something a WASP guy would take anyway.
I think they might have only had that negative sentiment against Jews, who pushed them out of "good" office jobs, some Irish people, who thanks to their English language could occupy managerial positions, as well as Italians, who would be quite successful with trade, shops, restaurants and such

it's the same like why you now see such a negative sentiment against Indians in the west (because they push whites out of best-paid managerial positions) while people don't even mind Eastern Euros (because they occupy the lowest-paid and hardest jobs like in construction or factories)

i don't think it was really like that since Poles started coming to the US around the same time when Irish/Italians, maybe 20 years later max

anyway, Poles were an object of jokes in the US, but not really hate, because you don't hate someone who doesn't pose a danger to you, doesn't steal your job etc.

yeah, I think I know why it features anti-Polish sentiments but it wasn't anything prominent in real life. There was no anti-Polonism in the same sense like there was anti-Semitism. No one would publish a book about the "Polish peril" or something like that, because Poles were mostly invisible - they didn't form mafias, they just worked in the worst jobs no one else wanted and then their kids were already full fledged assimilated white Americans.

anyway poles definitely came after irish and the german jews who came during the great famine. Poles and italians, that is the big waves, came later. Difference is italians settled in already diverse places like new york while poles settled in the midwest which was almost entirely wasp

Definitely Polish. Irish quickly blend into WASP society due to them being already Anglo-adjacent, there have been two POTUSes of Irish Catholic decent at this point.
Italians were seen as a rung lower but won the hearts of many with their manifold contributions to American culture (pizza and spaghetti with meatballs, mafia culture, Frank Sinatra, Al Pacino etc.). Also the guy who discovered America as well as the guy who gave America its name were both Italian.
Poles were rightfully seen as the lowest of them all due to zero contributions to American as well as general culture compounded by their general ignorance and alien status. Many Polish immigrants from Chicago area have yet to master the English language

that's because Poles were still coming en masse to America until 2004, meanwhile all the other groups stopped immigrating there already before WW2 (because their home countries were already rich enough). 2nd gen Poles are regular white Americans like everyone else, just too many 1st gens still live there

Language is the big pat, just speak without an accent and its done. At least here, knew several polish families when I grew up and my sister was friends with in school. Parents had a light or heavier accent, but the daughters none at all. Looked like everyone else, were catholic like most people as we are in south-western germany.
Language is sadly also a thing how I determine how trustworthy someone is. If someone talks in this immigrant influenced stuff like a lot of rappers do, I get carefull.

Where I grew up people speak in a strong dialect, my parents moved here before I was born and I grew up speaking standard german. Took some time to realise people at school though I was "arrogant" for speaking standard german. People even send messages on their phone in the local dialect (which has no real spelling rules beyond how it sounds which fucked up their writing). Sadly, if you are not bavarian and thus have some self confidence, in basic interactions you might have it harder speaking a heavy dialect than someone that is educated but exotic looking.

Also, some of them did, simply not to the US but to Quebec or their other colonies.

Poles never had the numbers or the organization to force everyone else to like them like the Irish, Italians, and Jews did. Plus they were coming over here to take shit jobs continuously from the early 1800s all the way up until after the fall of the Iron Curtain, whereas low skill immigration from the other groups was a 60-70 year thing at most.
