The Japan that exists today *will not* exist in 2035. By 2050 current Japanese people will talk about the Japan of today the way we talk about California in the 1970s

Then China deindustrializes becomes a 'soft power' juggernaut, zoomers start treating China like it's the new Japan and everyone starts talking about stagnation, birthrates, blah blah. The question is: who is going to be the next China? This cycle of socialism has been going on too long. Prussia was considered a shithole in the 1870s, then it became a leading manufacturer. The US was considered a shithole in the 1900s then it too became a leading manufacturer. Japan was considered a shithole until the 1980s, then it became a leading manufacturer. Now it's China in the 2010s. Eventually someone needs to start calling out the patterns because all of these areas became cultural hegemons after their manufacturing stint was over.
