But they can't. Russia has to send it's energy to China via ships. To transport anywhere near enough they would need something an order of magnitude more than Nordstream and that wont work destroyed. Nordstream took US navy seal divers to blow up because it was under water but via land it would just take a single air strike and it. China nor Russia could defend such a long area. And again this is all theoretical and assumes Russia does build such a pipeline. It doesn't even exist right now and would take years to complete.

They didn't. They invaded multiple other countries to take their oil. That is why Japan bombed pearl harbor as the first step to a multi country invasion in order to secure oil fields.
