N4だけでTextractorの助けでVNでも読める、私はそのスキルくらいでVNを読み始めた。超遅く読んだけど(´;ω;`)

I'm sure I could start reading yotsubato already but N3 is only like 2 weeks away so I'm going to wait.
I usually write my sentences and then check them with chatgpt (most of the time there are like 1-3 mistakes and then I fix them and try to remember the mistakes for next time) before posting.

My life is looking kinda 忙しい right now.
Moving out of state to Florida (specifically Orlando) (because my parents I'm stuck living with are moving there because the cost of living is apparently lower) in like less than a month
But all of a sudden, we find out my great aunt is on her deathbed dying of cancer, and she apparently intentionally didn't bother telling everyone she had cancer until it was too late
So not only are we packing up to (still) move to florida, but we also have to handle an imminent death in the family

I realized it's probably because I'm not consuming enough content but at this super novice level I struggle to find anything I can understand more than 1 word a sentence. Listening to giberous feels like a waste and reading where I'm looking up everyword also feels like the wrong direction.
I've got a trip to visit a freind and his family in Japan end of November so I've got to grind like crazy - any advice would be helpful! Thanks anons

I've given up on these premade decks because I'm terrible at memorizing them and decided to just mine sentences I find in anime or games to make my own cards instead, since the context makes it easier to remember and I get to choose what words I want. maybe using a premade deck is more efficient assuming you don't have adhd and can actually sit down and memorize things though

I find it interesting how slapstick comedy transcends most language and cultural barriers.
I.E how the most popular old (like pre-TV) cartoons in japan are apparently shit like tom and jerry and road runner (well, to an extent, but from what I understand it's the most known looney tunes cartoon series in japan (which isn't saying much due to LT's relative nicheness compared to T&J or mickey mouse). correct me if I'm wrong)
Is there something about the human psyche that makes most people laugh their asses off at other people's physical misfortune? Why are we as a species like this?

My first 500 words and N5 grammar was harder mentally than anything else I ever did because everything was new and my brain hadn't adapted yet.
If you want to get anywhere before november you need to do a lot more than just Anki though. In such a short notice just learning how to politely say thanks, and apologizing politely for not understanding Japanese is enough. If you want to take it a step further you learn how to ask for one beer and how to ask for the name of what you're pointing at so you can politely ask to buy one of that if you see something tasty and your friend isn't there to help. Your friend will be able to help you with anything else when he's around anyways.

Knowing kana unlocks a lot when walking past food carts, they are often written in hiragana or katakana. A bunch are written in kanji, but you can just ask your friend who I assume won't leave you stranded.

Don't stress yourself too much, have fun on the trip ヽ(*＾ω＾*)ﾉ
