No matter how fucked up it is, it is worse than you think
My mother father's side did the scheming over inheritance followed by cutting off family members
Then my mother's father's side did the same thing years later, and this time during the last months of his life they shoved him in some care home and refused to visit him because "covid" and also used power of attorney to not allow my mother to visit him as he was dying against his wishes. Idk why, just to make sure she could have zero chance to change the will and get inheritance? Anyway after he died they went no contact with us as well. Keep in mind a lot of these people pretending like they cared about us for my entire life.
I wouldn't say my grandparents were exactly pleasant people either, but they had worse ending than they should have had in the end because of family scheming. They did lived 30 minutes away and did the "oh, visit us any time! We're lonely!" And I would stay a night or two and my parents would text me and say "oh, Grandma wants to know when you will leave, they say you eat too much food" and it made me not wanna visit them much despite not being far.
IDK but when I contrast it with my dad's side who keep inviting me to random family functions and also my grandmama who I only see every couple years in mexico who would literally force feed me food and tearfully beg me to come back soon it makes me see how utterly retarded anglo family structure is
