Not as bad as Pakis, but yeah it's pretty bad. I've recently been able to come to terms with this fact, but it's not something I myself do, I think. Then again I'm not religious at all. I like studying religions as much as I like studying anything else, but that's all.

I don't feel drawn towards anything, I've not believed in anything but myself for far too long. though I recently read Siddhartha and I must admit it had an impact on me. I fully agree with the notion that the only spiritual guide a person needs is his perfect, divine self that already exists within him. I came to this conclusion on my own years ago though I did not think very deeply about it at the time but ever since then I've been more and more convinced that this is the way to go.

No we don't. There is no torture involved in kapparot. And we don't believe we're transferring sins onto an animal. Anyway, I don't believe in the practice. It's kabbalistic heresy, and not all Jews do the practice. It's a silly folk ritual without much significance, as the true atonement is on the day of Yom Kippur.

I can see even a religion like Buddhism getting incredibly obnoxious with India and China fighting over what's the more authentic mode of Buddhism or claiming that Europeans/Africans/Latinos could never be true Buddhists.
