i dont think military has anything to do with firearm ownership. our laws are similar to most countries people rarely own guns unless they have a security job or something

What do they do if someone breaks into their house? Do you guys have shit self defense laws too?
Anonymous Estonia No.216043167 [Report]
>>216042125 (OP)
yes but
you need to get a mental health check and pass a firearms exam to get a loicense to own guns
and wait for a background check to get a loicense to buy a gun
Anonymous Israel No.216043168 [Report] >>216043194
>>216042934
yes our self defense laws are very shit but also someone breaking into your home while you're threre is almost unheard of here.

there was a massive case here in 2020 where a guy stumbled across car thieves trying to steal his car in the middle of the night in a remove place and shot one of them, got arrested for it. it generated a massive uproar and got political where the right sided with him and the left against him, it ended up with a plea deal of a few months community work and 10000 shekel fine but he raised over a million shekels in crowdfunding.

this is one of the main reasons me and many others voted for ben gvir who promised to become the internal security/police minister and fix policing in israel (and largely kept his promise)

true
but the very existence of these criminals is a failure of policing so people are more mad that these people are around in the first place than self defense laws.

You can have all the police in the world, people will still commit crimes and when seconds count the cops are only minutes away.

having crime is basically entirely optional and something countries do by choice.

if we went bukele-mode and put all known criminals in this country in a cage crime in israel would drop to near 0. same btw is true for your country.

There are still criminals in El Salvador.

I'm thankful that if some asshole wants to try and steal my shit I get to blow their fucking brains out.

there's towns in israel where there's barely any fences between homes and people generally dont bother locking doors, neighbors just walk into each other's homes to talk. this is less common now than 50 years ago but still exists.

in places where there hasnt been a violent crime in many years you can just forget about the whole idea of ever needing to shoot criminals attacking you
