In fact, this >>216071575 is just barely outside VRAEM (acronym for Valley of the Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro rivers).

About decades ago, a tourist visiting Choquequirao was kidnapped and ransomed by Shining Path, but nothing like that has happened since.

Btw that dog, to reach Choquequirao, had to trek for like three days, up and down the Apurimac river canyon, one of the deepest in Peru.

A cable car is in the works, will make it easier to reach the site. Btw, that image shows part of the Choquequirao-Vitcos Inca trail. After the Spanish conquest, a faction of the Incas established a Neo-Inca State in Vitcos, believing the forested slopes of the Amazonian Andes offered good protection.

Then they quickly moved their base futher into the Amazon, to Vilcabamba, most likely being Espiritu Pampa, though in recent years, there's a contending site that has been named "Hatun Vilcabamba," despite still not knowing for sure if it was atcually Vilcabamba.

100 years ago, Choquequirao and Machu Picchu were also considered strong candidates for Vilcabamba, until modern research ruled them out. Machu Picchu in particular, was advertised as Vilcabamba for decades. Initially, this was the reason it became popular

I can understand why people would think nature is marvelous, but to me its just what it is. billions of years, by the laws of physics and chemistry. its not rocket science, so I prefer something with a bit of humanity, I'm a human after all. I like to look into us, this very species, how we interact with the nature, and more importantly, with each other. let me show u an example of what I consider marvelous: loot at picrel, this swedish man tried so hard to swallow the dogshit food he just made which you wouldn't even want to serve to some stray dog. simply epic. innit?
