It should be pointed out that the evangelicals in South America are predominantly pentecostal which isn't what Americans typically think of when they think of Evangelicals (mostly Southern Baptists).

Pentecostals: Originated in early 1900's California as a multi-racial premillennial church who believes that the holy spirit speaks through them in the original language (tongues).
Southern Baptists: Baptists were protestants heavily influenced by Second Great Awakening. Splintered form northern baptists due to issues over slavery. More like a conservative more traditional Protestantism.

America is simply into cults but TV evangelical cults are a thing in every Christian country.

When I think of protestantism, I think of KJV only, fundamentalist and dispensationalist. Simple as.
