We "celebrate" Allahelgona (All Hallows' Day) and that consists of being depressed, joining hundreds or thousands of others on a walk to the cemetery to light candles at your loved ones graves, crying and then going home.

When I was seven my dad brought me trick-or-treating to every pub in the village. The barmen gave me packs of peanuts and Taytos, when I got home I traded the excess to my brother for chocolates and other types of sweets. I also made like €70 from random men at the pubs giving me money.

My mother said this was a tradition when she was growing up except the men doing it used to smash the things hard against the doors to scare people.
