It's very much like ours except it's an enclosed environment. They have more or less the same memes (short vids culture, reaction images, political stuff). Due to censorship they have to find creative ways to express opinions and that spans more absurd memes than ours which are very direct and tasteless imo. For instance I like the "crab" meme which is, because censorship there is called "harmonisation" and the "harmony" symbol looks like the symbol for "crab", they say someone got "crabbed" and post pictures of crabs when they get censored.
China is very Westernised apart from their typical quirks. They have a heavy metal scene, they have drug-fueled raves, they have political restlessness even though they're a one-party state... They're very much aware of what happens in the West but for "PR" reasons or probably mostly because they don't care we don't see them much in the Western Internet. Mostly because Reddit and most Western websites are censored there.
But I discussed with a legit Chinese here on 4chan it was interesting. They're normal people living in a one-party state of 1.5 billion people is all.
I'm looking for Chinese memes on Google and some of them are literally the same as ours (ex: "emotional damage", WWE wrestlers, webcomic templates, etc.).
