>I thought nuclear weapons were more powerful than that
The fissile pits are typically, since the 1970s, 3 kiloton devices.
Then tritium booser gas can be added into the middle to give a variable primary stage yeild.
If there is a secondary stage , occlusive elements can be included or excluded to vary the yeild of the second stage.
This gives an operating range of 3 to 300kt for some devices.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were around 15-20kt, possibly more. (estimates vary).
The largest fissile pit constructed was by the UK to convince the USA they understood thermonuclear devices and to give them the info freely: it was 500kt and made up of the eqivelant of 15 highly enriched uranium fissile pits in a big hollow uranium sphere. This ruse worked and USA gave over the classified material the UK couldn't figure out on itself.

Baiting by saying "NOOO IT CANNOT BE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE"
We were saying it was a nuclear explosion from day 1 dipshits.
The seismograph data was posted day 1.
The radation announcement happened day 1 on the norway-russian border : Cesium-137.
It's as bright as the morning sun.
It's near or at the visual horizon.
Calculated, the blast wave from that far away would take as long as it did take: since blast waves move FASSTER THAT THE SPEED OF SOUND (thats why they destroy eveyrthing) initially.
Which you people were claiming was a lie.
