Hitler was convinced that Germany needed to conquer eastern eurorpe to become a dominant power, and this would inevitably entail genocide of the native population (he even compared it to the colonization of the USA). So I guess dehumanizing the people you want to genozide is a neccessary step. Back then the difference in development between western and eastern europe was also pretty big, so that probably reinforced his views of superiority/inferiority.
