I spend quite a bit of time in germany, people here make jokes about the war and as a whole unless they're smarmy uni types don't like the EU, whereas in my experience a lot of germans have a genuine chip on their shoulder against the british people for voting for brexit, every time I'm over there it's all I constantly get asked about. have also had a friend over there put it to me "we don't dislike the british we just think you're stupid" which to me is splitting hairs
