I went to McDonald's today and got a Filet-O-Fish combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. I was eating it in my vehicle in the parking lot and listening to an audiobook when I glanced up and saw the McDonald's worker I ordered outside having a cigarette.
She waved at me and I nodded and had to wait 7 minutes before she went back inside and I could eat in comfort again. I don't think that employees should be bothering or even trying to socialize with customers outside of the McDonald's restaurant or drive through, but that is another story.

Here you always order through the screens, get a receipt with your number, number gets called up when your order is done and the food is waiting at the pick-up counter.

Yes (for people with disabilities) but then you have to take a number anyway and wait for someone to arrive. My parents are elderly and they went to McDonald's a few months ago and had to wait like 15 minutes before some pimply teenager waddled out from the back to take their order. And of course he got half the shit wrong..

That's actually one thing I love about the screens. Since they put that system in, I have never gotten my orders wrong. Before that it was like a 75% chance they either forgot something or I got something completely different.
But I do still miss picrel. We always had cute girls working the counter back in the day.
