What I don't get is the mental gymnastics people who like Japan have over Tokyo. The entire metro area is like what 37 million people? That's nearly a third of the entire pop. Why the fuck do people say Tokyo/Osaka isn't the REAL Japan? If you add Tokyo and Osaka metro together it's nearly half of the entire population. Even their 'mid-tier' cities are bigger in population that 99% of cities in the US. Sapporo has more population than Phoenix and that's the 5th largest city in the US.

You know the solution to this is effective management and that means removing the seniority system. Call me pessimistic but I can't see a world where Japan becomes productive even if they did work 15 hours a day. Maybe if they sent people to the mines for coal, but no one is doing that shit.
