I don't use virus11 or virus10 for as long as I can help it. When I have to, its on multi core workstations at work where it works average at best. What kind of maintenance are you talking about? And does downloading everything have to do with performance degradation

Nope. I earn money and I'm sure as hell gonna be spending my money. No reason to work otherwise.
I buy the best possible things within my budget, which is pretty damn high.
