The days will get shorter until December 12th. The sun will then set for the last time this year and not rise above the horizon until the 4th of January. The polar night. Almost a complete month of solid darkness.

That's life here in Lapland.

It's mixed, not in a bad way. LKAB is very particular about who they let into town for work and their reach goes far beyond just the mine.
I don't wanna say foreign neighborhoods but it's accurate enough, they tend to live in the same area. Poles, Germans, Danes, Norwegians and a lot of Finns. The Poles are mostly working on the moving project, the rest are mainly in/around the mine.

Where I was in rural hell, we got absolutely nailed one January. It took four days to clear the "Highway", and another week or so to clear the roads completely. I had to dig my way out of my bedroom window, basically walk down the snow dune piled against the garage, and dig out the garage doors so we could get the snowblower and snowmobile out... We got about two weeks off of school.
