>>49623726I hope my notes are not too jarring or self-indulgent.
Stage1
Alice's dialog is cuter than I remembered. It's fun to see her try to match Marisa's energy while also trying to look fancy.
Marisa's dialog was just what you'd expect, which is actually subpar for her, she should always exceed expectations.
Stage2
All the points about Alice remain true. Her eagerness to fight is as clear as ever.
Marisa's dialog starts to shine a bit more here. Her last few lines actually made me chuckle.
Maybe the thing that makes the IN dialog hit less hard is her portrait. It is less emotive than her SA one, which is to this day my favorite protagonist portrait in any Touhou game.
Mystia was also better than I remembered. Maybe back then I overlooked this stage because of its gameplay... Much to think about.
Stage3
Marisa gets mistaken for a youkai.
Marisa gets carried away a lot and Alice has to wrangle her.
How did Alice know of Keine's true nature?
Marisa mistakes herself for a youkai.
Marisa works surprisingly well with Keine as a straightman. Alice is also there.
The last lines got a laugh out of me again. Maybe Marisa's dialog in this game is meant to be like a joke and it becomes good at the end, when you get the punchline.
Stage4
Man, this stage is long. It's not as drawn-out as the PCB stage 4, but it also has the most generic Touhou music.
I think Marisa's dialog here is the most famous in the game(Maybe with the exception of Alice calling Reimu a bitch, also in the same stage).
Man, Reimu's a cunt.
Marisa's dialog totally holds up to the expectations.
That cunt's theme is pretty cool though.
"In this bamboo forest bathed in moonlight, you two will become one of the shining bamboo trees. How beautiful." Pretty cool line from the cunt. IN isn't really known for its cool or poetic lines, at least that's how I feel about it, but some of them are pretty cool.
I guess Alice has a quite few cool lines too, but really no standouts.
Reimu almost wrigglekicked me. What a cunt.
Marisa didn't have any particularly good line at the end here.
It all has the feeling of three children fighting in the playground. That's something, I guess.
Stage5
The stage theme is good. It's not excellent, but you never see anyone talk about it when its pretty decent.
It's very funny to see Marisa and Alice talk past the other girls, it's more noticeable than in SA. Marisa has an eye for catching weird details and often derails the conversation thru her observations, I didn't notice that until now.
Eirin is a boomer.
Reisen's dialog here is also better than I remember. She's cute, tries to look cool, and gets ignored, which makes her angry. It works especially well thanks to Marisa.
I like how Alice and Marisa talk about each other's "lines", like they're in a play.
Blow up everything in sight.
No funny line at the end, they're too busy.
Reisen's getting a beating tonight.
Stage6
I love it when I'm just one rabbit short of healing.
I don't know if I have simply gotten used to Marisa's dialog in this game by now, by her lines hit harder, both in comedy and coolness.
Kaguya presents her lines very matter-of-factly with a few childish complaints when her energy is not matched, while Marisa revels in her subjectivity. It's a similar situation to the one with Keine.
Marisa's youkaing out, too. I forgot to mention it.
Kaguya is lonely ): (This will matter in the ending. If I remember the ending correctly, that is)
Alice is aware of the lunarians. Know-it-all bitch.
Marisa's back to being very funny, with some help from Kaguya.
Alice the party-pooper wants the real Moon back, lest God(or Heaven, I suppose) punish us or something. Marisa's just enjoying the moment.
Short intermission(likely an unwise decision)! Kaguya's theme sounds so weird in game when the version of it you've listened to the most is the R53M one.
An unwise decision indeed.
While we're at it, Kaguya has such good nonspells!
Kaguya ended the eternal night. She's the real hero, if you think about it.
Now to the ending
Alice and Marisa keep to their respective shticks. Marisa is enjoying the moment, while Alice acts pissed, she didn't want to go on an adventure and fight(she sort of did, but she wants to hide it)!
I feel like the graverobber line is also pretty iconic. Now that I think about it, Alice and Marisa have the most iconic lines in the game. Maybe I didn't appreciate them because I took them for granted.
Blue-haired Reisen.
Y'know, Marisa is pretty witty, despite acting sort of slow sometimes.
Its funny to see the rabbit annoyed. That's something Marisa is uniquely good at, she annoys people who its funny to see annoyed.
"I wouldn't even eat you"-Alice
Kaguya is very classy, and also has a sense of noblesse oblige. Alice tries to crap on Marisa to look more fancy, or because that's just what she does, but Kaguya seems to find Marisa more entertaining.
I remembered the ending correctly.
In short: I liked it.
