>>49481985>KMSKisame Magic Shop, It's a touhou fic that evolved out of one of these threads where an Anon falls for Yamame. It's got all the deficiencies you'd expect from a fan work, but there's still some soul to it. I'd say the biggest problem is that it doesn't focus enough on the spider, who's made out to be an older sister type to the rest of the arachnids in the Underground.
>>49481850Probably.
I've thought some about writing a Yamame story that would shore up the problems of KMS.
The premise would be that there's a incident with sinkholes suddenly popping up in Gensokyo and Anon's house is destroyed. He wants to rebuild, but he's dead broke and construction is at a premium because other buildings are getting wrecked as well. So, he seeks out Yamame based on a rumor, who agrees to help him on the condition that he repay her afterwards in whatever manner she chooses. The story would be an excuse to go into the fine details of building a home, seeking out a good plot of land, procuring materials, laying down a foundation, etc. all from a Youkai's perspective. At the start, Anon would be pretty uncomfortable(arachnophobe) and probably annoy the Spider with his human sensibilities, but over time they'd grow closer without realizing it.
Yamame's payment could be implied to be a literal pound of flesh throughout the story, which could very well be her plan up to a point, but at the end, the house itself is actually a trap for whatever is causing the sinkholes, because Yamame is pissed at the literal 'homewrecker' since the sinkholes would affect the underground as well. Anon would then move in with Yamame, in the 'house'(relationship) they'd built.
The key, I think, is to unironically lean into the arachnophobia elements. Yamame should act friendly some moments, but also act erratically to tease/spook Anon at other times, like how a spider's movements aren't predictable. In same vein, Anon should be terrified of her. I don't have Arachnophobia, but I've been playing some horror games that get to me to remember what it feels like to be scared again. Ultimately Anon will grow to like her and her more positive respects, but that would be in spite of the phobia and not because of it.
>>49482067Hmmm, maybe. To me, Ran's devotion has more to do with what she is as a Shiki.
Yamame, on the other hand, is a home builder in a place where homes are often destroyed, sort of like how a spider's web might not last. That, to me, indicates that she'd roll with the punches in a relationship while moving forwards.
Although Ran has her tails and Yamame has her legs and spider threads to keep you close.
