Feels like Nasu is differentiating Shiki and Ryougi here. Making Tohno the more lethal and powerful user of MEoDP whereas for Ryougi it's more of side-effect of her connection to the root and so not as potent. Makes sense since Tohno is probably already recreating the legend of Balor with killing at a distance. I'm ok with this since it only makes sense that the guy whose overloading and killing himself seeing death becomes nearest to it and wields it the best. Shiki is living between life and death, being one with the boundary and forsaking his humanity so he should get amped death related abilities. It's cool that it seems like with Tohno it's a proper curse that grows in power while harming him. With Ryougi it always felt like something cool tacked on that didn't fit the story as well.

I wouldn't say she has an easier time killing non-tangible things. She actually struggles to kill the formless like Fujinon's spirals she says. It's harder than anything else she did. Tohno actually specializes in that kinda thing because his pure eye was designed to see it and so shouldn't need to be barraged so much before he can start to even see it. Another example is how readily he sees the principle of a vampire, pretty much immediately upon seeing Vlov for the first time despite not knowing shit about it. He also sees the death of space, and all other sorts of things beyond human comprehension throughout Melty. Perhaps he would get more feedback when killing things like that though? It's hard to gauge what would fall into the 'concept' wheelhouse of Ryougi and the fact is that utilizing the point of anything is already more straining than seeing any line no matter what he's killing. Shit, Shiki sees lines on the bounded fields too now that I think of it. It's kind of strange but he can seemingly see all this shit too though I guess it wrecks him more than it would her especially since he's able to see points on them(Which is probably overkill on a large number of things that simply 'die' with a line though points might have some additional effect like turning a DAA into a normal DA)

Powerlevel nerds, is Vlov really just middle of the pack servant tier and can Shiki fight servants? I hear he's superhuman from one person and he'd get shit on by Iori and Ryougi from another if you weigh their physical stats. Iori seemed pretty average. He was skilled but not really portrayed as beyond human physical potential and 'knowing' his opponent seemed to play the major role in his solo servant fights to me, giving him the edge he needed to exploit with his swordsmanship. Vlov would most Servants, especially factoring in his Idea Blood since you can't even fight him without turning into an icicle. The only reason Ciel could fight him at all was because her armor repels all external interference.
Skill wise Vlov was skilled enough to fight Ciel for an hour in meele combat, and Ciel's swordsmanship is good enough where she can sever souls through sheer skill (stated to be swordsmanship on the level of gods). Vlov would be capable of fighting Servants like Musashi and Yagyu just fine thanks to his meele skills even leaving aside the fact he has greater physical strength than them. And this is of course leaving aside his Idea Blood, otherwise they couldn't even fight him.

You just read the original and then the remake. The only thing worth considering with regards to customizing is potentially changing the soundtrack in the original game. There's the original OST and a remixed one that came with the Tsukibako version. I think most people probably played the remixed OST but it's a taste thing.

I think she lived for 17 years as AE until Roa tricked her into drinking his blood. But in this time she did not develop mentally the same way another would because she was only a weapon. After going berserk and putting herself to sleep, she only awakened for brief periods which maybe added up to a year. Her only knowledge was that which was necessary for her to find and kill Roa. I think this is a good explanation for her total lack of social skills or understanding of the modern world in Tsukihime. After Shiki killed her she changed and started having an interest in the ways of humans and thus tried to be more social.

I agree with that post. You have to look at the context of the character and the presentation of the concept as a whole. Ixquic is meant to inform you somewhat about the nature of this type of entity and what we're shown is consistent with what we knew about how the physical and mental/existential are related. Arc's knowledge is irrelevant to the point that's being brought up. She's basically all knowing but she's immature and static as an existence. This changes as she is killed and a new her is born. Her death is paramount to her liberation and what allows her to transcend her station and become a self-realized individual living in the now. This is how she gains the emotional and mental development that marks her humanity and allows her to mature past the events of Tsuki. So yeah, it is the point of near side, at least her part.

Just look carefully at how Smoll Arc, A3 and Hime are presented. The similarities are intentional and so the picture being shown by Nasu is hardly vague. What the profile line is essentially showing is that there is a link between the physical and mental and a form that doesn't change impacts the mind. Or rather it's about eternity and perfection in relation to Tsuki, immortality, the value of death and flaws and the difference between being alive and existing. It's why Roa views himself as above Arc initially because he thought she was someone who didn't know death and was stuck in the past. I'll remind you that AE went into hibernation or such until her form was of the appropriate shape/age. There was no experience or anything from what we can tell between when she manifested as Smoll Arc and became stuck. So it makes perfect sense that her mentality is unchanged from when she was Smoll arc and why after a thousand years she's the same despite any experiences she may have had as a princess. Same as with ixquic, despite having the key element of Tepeu and what not, she'll never 'grow'. That would have changed probably had she been killed but it's doubtful whether she had the strength to survive it what with the state of that world and malla's involvement.

Computer, tell me how to read the English Tsukihime release on my computer, since I looked on the nyaa site and it's got some fan translations (I suspect those are AI so I don't want to read them) and the 2024 release with Japanese text(?), so I dunno where to look and also I'm not sure which emulator to use since the most popular one (Yuzu?) is not available for download anymore so really I'm not sure where to look or what to do and it seems like a big pain but I don't want to pay for it on my switch since I don't think I have enough space on it to download without having to delete Mahoyo and also I want Nasu to write Mahoyo 2 before he writes the other Tsukiime route remake and if I buy a copy of Tsukihime he might decide to do that one first so please, computer, tell me what I should do I'd like some advice thank you.

Finally playing Fate, chose Ultimate edition since it seems like the best choice based off what I read but I do wanna ask, I noticed basically every setting (Text, Graphics, Movies, Music) have options for Original, Realta Nua, Mixed, or sometimes one or two other ones.
Any of these I should change from the default for all of them which looks like Mixed? Music is the one I'm definitely the most curious about.

In fact it's not even an armor, it's an instrument of torture used to kill witches in the middle ages. Tohno can in fact kill servants. When he killed Arcueid, 17 cuts landed in "an instant".
This is on the same level as 5th grail war Asassin's Tsubame Gaeshi. This is in fact canon. Not only that, but Arcueid was not able to notice she was being followed, nor feel any killing intent from Tohno until the blade already killed her. This is on the same level as asassin servant presence concealment.

In the official Tsukihime manga, Shiki was capable of slicing and killing lightning shot at him by Roa. A low estimate of the speed required for this would land at 96,000MPH, which is the atmospheric discharge of lightning at denser levels (closer to lower altitudes.) Tying together presence concealment, Zelretch level ability (flash sheath), and A class speed, Shiki could in fact stand a chance against most servants. His trump card that would place him above anything summoned under asassin card would be that he essentially has an instant kill move if he ever gets near, making him a very deadly oponent.

To use concrete evidence of Shiki proving himself time and time again, we can look at who in fact he has killed.

Nrvnqsr Chaos the 10th apostle. In one attack Tohno managed to kill all 666 of his lives.
Michael Roa Valdamjong, said to be immortal by traveling between Akasha and back, "reincarnating". Tohno severed his connection to Akasha, erasing his existance.

In the "Talk" side story for Tsukihime, Tohno manged to kill the forest of Einnashe, the seventh dead apostle. He also managed to kill Einnashe's reality marble.

The idea Shiki can't defeat servants isn't worth entertaining when Nasu literally writes a scenario where he defeats three of them without even locking in. The boss rush was just meant to glaze Shiki, they literally all go after him and are showcasing how legit he is. The intent couldn't be any more clear. While HS are legends of humanity, Shiki is abnormal. He is an unparalleled genius within history. His suitability towards killing will never be equaled. He's better than a HS, he'll be the kind of figure who would live in legend, fighting monsters beyond HS in and of itself. His killing of Arc alone is something that would go down as the single most miraculous act in history and anyone thinking he's not physically capable are missing the point of this scene revealing that his upper potential is basically limitless. Isn't anyone that he couldn't hang with if he decided to kill them. It's all mental with Shiki. The more of the killer that leaks out the more lethal he is to the opponent. Even beyond godlike beings who doesn't die when they're killed know he is a monster.

I know how dense it is and know how much thematically is going on in the route, but is so overwhelming that it takes away from the emotional through-line of the route. By the time you get to day 13 its hard to emotional connect to Ciel's journey of self forgiveness because of the distance between her scenes is too far. Even on my re-read for the route it still felt like too much. The route is good but its just not the perfect Ciel route i wanted.

I could have worded it better. My problem is not really the frequency of the scenes but more with the actual route around them. There is too much distance between build up and payoff that it make hard to remember most of the details about Ciel character and a lot of good moments get burred under just how much shit is in the route.

In the original vn Ciel's route was bad. Instead of fixing it Nasu decided to just make more.
Her route needed a complete rewrite. Less Arc and Shiki. More Noel and Roa.

By the way, Shirou, the protagonist of a bishoujo game, in HF didn't save the day. In fact, he was saved and that was amazing. Good endings are important.

The remake is a rewrite though. It takes some concepts from the original but trashes a bunch of other ones and reworks everything. Unless you think literally everything about the original Ciel route needed to be scrapped which would be pretty extreme.

What? I mean sure it's a team effort with Rin and Rider (like how Shiki needed Roa's help) but Shirou is extremely proactive in the final day and gets pretty most of the coolest moments. He's very much heroic there.
