guide: use japanese and you'll get better at it

>こういう状況だと、入って本当に精神に異常きたすっていうしな・・・
>きたすっていうしな
I'm not really sure how to interpret the last fragment here, or how the 入る is used.
Could the whole phrase reasonably be something like
>In these times, we should try to avoid saying strange things that can (further) upset our attitudes.
Though that's obviously very liberal.
now that the dust has settled, was learning japanese worth it?

its honestly just crazy that you can pass kanken 2 and work for a japanese university yet still read at that level

and rawdog japanese chicks every night
>>49636444kanken doesn't really require in-depth language knowledge, the reading section is very very easy and if you're at the point you can somewhat confidently reurgitate onyomi readings you'll pass it
the writing section is harder only because you need to drill writing the kanji until you can actually write them which natives can't either if they don't practice, the reason it's hard is not because it requires so much japanese ability obv but because it requires you to invest quite a few hours into a boring process like producing kanji out of your head but if you do invest the hours anyone can pass it

>>49634831>>49634963I was like you about six months ago, obviously I'm no expert but I'll tell you what worked for me:
>learn kana, should only take a few days, just use something like https://realkana.com/>start learning vocab on Anki with the Kaishi 1.5k deck>start learning grammar, for this I recommend https://kellenok.github.io/cure-script/ (a lot of people say this guide teaches some things incorrectly, but for me at least it cleared up a lot of grammar concepts and massively helped me in understanding Japanese), the channel Japanese Ammo with Misa on Youtube, https://dojglite.github.io/main/ and very recently https://yoku.bi/ which I haven't used extensively, but from what I've seen looks very good>once you have learned enough grammar and somewhere between 500-1000 words, start reading visual novels with a text hooker so you can look up unknown words and grammar>start mining words yourself once you have finished KaishiYou can look at this guide as well for more detail, I didn't strictly follow any guide but most of them say pretty much the same as what I outlined above: https://donkuri.github.io/learn-japanese/guide/
Just be warned that the beginning of learning Japanese fucking sucks (or at least this was the case for me). Anki, grammar, reading, all of it was really hard at first, but if you push through it, it gets a lot easier. Also I wasted a lot of time for the first 2 months or so listening to Japanese anime and Youtube without subtitles due to what some guides advise, but I don't think this actually helps if you don't understand anything. Reading is a lot better since you can take your time and ensure you actually understand what's being said, which makes it both more enjoyable to consume content, and helps you to learn the language a lot faster and more effectively.
The last piece of advice I will give is to not waste too much time looking at different guides and trying to figure out the most optimal way to learn Japanese, and to instead just start learning and start reading as soon as possible, and as much as possible.
Diving into my first VN with little to no knowledge of grammar or common speaking conventions is really putting to light how much voiced lines help. I'm hugging gpt to help me contextualize (and actually read) anything, but having voices would have tremendously helped with the first part.

>>49636501It's been like this for a few years now, your best bet is to just ignore DJT generals. As you can tell, it's been overrun with ironic weebs who use Japanese only as a way to try to socially propel themselves in English circles. Actual autists interested in the language beyond these normalfag values have either already learned the language by now, or just gave up on brainstorming with other learners. To think that people still end up caring about their online image while on an anonymous message board. Used to, the whole appeal of DJT over posting in any other place was specifically to avoid this very thing.
using djt to propel myself into the inner circle
This is the case for every general now, absolutely no exceptions. Even recurring threads quickly turn into generals in boards where the former isn't overtly allowed. The fact that the site (+ the internet as a whole) is being overrun by underage faggots and subhumans in alarmingly increasing rates isn't doing anyone any favors.

I havent started but from what I get yeah, Korean has the honorifics, word structure, and sentence as Japanese. However Hangul is extremely simple and efficient. Everyone says you can learn it in a few hours. Korean does have something like Kanji, which is Hanja. However its way less important. You dont need it for day to day communication. Its more specialized for historical documents or research. Zoomer Koreans learn basic Hanja but some dont retain the information after highschool.
tldr; Korean has something like Kanji but its way less relevant to the language and we probably wouldnt use it, and Hangul is way easier than Hiragana/Katakana

Alright so I keep seeing people use "desu" and "da" at the end of sentences in Japanese and I swear every time I think I know when to use which one I see an example that just throws me off completely Like I get that "desu" is supposed to be more polite and "da" is casual but then sometimes people just don’t use either and the sentence still makes sense and then I read that you’re not supposed to use "da" after nouns in some situations but then I see native speakers do it anyway and then there’s this thing where you can’t use "da" after i-adjectives but you can after na-adjectives but then sometimes people just drop everything and it’s still fine
And then there’s the whole thing where if you’re talking to your friends you should use "da" but if you’re talking to your boss you use "desu" but then I saw someone say that even with friends you sometimes don’t use "da" at all and it’s more natural to just leave it out and now I’m just sitting here wondering if I should just never say anything at all because I’ll always get it wrong Is there some kind of secret rule for when you actually need to use "desu" or "da" or is it just a vibe thing that you pick up after years of listening to anime characters and hoping for the best

Need help. I've been grinding through Tobira and watching anime without subs for like 6 months now and I keep running into this thing where I THINK I understand the difference between のに and けど but then I'll see some sentence like "彼は頭がいいのに勉強しない" and I'm like wait couldn't this also be "彼は頭がいいけど勉強しない" and my Japanese friend just says "it feels different" which doesn't help AT ALL and then I found this other example "約束したのに来なかった" vs "約束したけど来なかった" and apparently one is more like disappointment and one is just stating facts but they BOTH seem disappointed to me?? Also while we're at it can someone explain why sometimes I see のに at the end of sentences with nothing after it like "もう春なのに..." because my textbook says it's a conjunction but then it's just HANGING THERE and when I asked on HelloTalk everyone just sent me stickers instead of explaining. I swear I've read like 10 different explanations and watched Cure Dolly videos and Japanese Ammo with Misa but every time I think I get it I see some usage that breaks my understanding again and I'm starting to think maybe I should just give up and use けど for everything because at least people understand me even if I sound like a 5 year old. Anyone else struggle with this or am I just retarded?

のに and けど are two particles thar are used ALL the time and whose distinction is taught at the very beginning of studying the language.
On the other hand, I had NEVER seen からに in grammar books nor Japanese discussions nor manga nor visual novels nor light novels nor podcasts nor videos.
Not to mention that it was paired with another construction I had never seen before, namely しおって, whose て ending made me think of the てから temporal construction.
