Kogasa is actually the Masamune blade from the legend of Masamune and Miramar hidden in a fake umbrella sheathe. She is capable of surprising because she is a hidden blade. She is good at blacksmithing weapons because she is a blacksmithed weapon. She is gentle and kind to the villagers and children because a Masamune blade is made to cut only evil, never the innocent. She continues to larp as an umbrella because much like an umbrella her legend is about her gently repelling flowing water, and she likes peace.
