Hello /jp/,
I am looking for a band that I listened to in 2014, 2016 or so
It was based on the gothic lolita anime visual, with no acutal people depicted. The songs were like those CD dramas, with dialogues and things like that, and depicted an anime-like story. I think the name of the character was "Charlotte" or something like that. Mainly, almost always, the vocals were female.
It sounded like something Takanashi Rikka or any Japanese girl with Chuunibyou would listen to.

Sorry, I don't know the answer
But it seems like a righteous question to have and I support you in your quest
I have my own drama CDs that I am partial to, and while I am not familiar with what you reference to, I would like to listen to it when you rediscover it

Unfortunately, it is not Sound Horizon... It is a more female band, with kind of rock opera style.

One of the videos on YouTube featuring their music, which was completely unofficial (lol), had this meme as thumbnail. But I really cannot remember the title.
I don't really think this is helpful, but it really is the most amount of information I had.

Actually scratch that, while Shoujo Byou has the fantasy vibe, they aren't exactly gothic lolita. Maybe Eine Kleine is the one.

Me too. It seems like a uniquely Japanese style of music since I don't think I have ever came across similar in any other language. Yeah I know the rock opera format isn't unique, I mean more the way it tends to be done on the doujin scene with the gothic flair to it, for lack of better ways to describe it.

I still see some new Gothic releases, look through enough new ones and chances are that you will find more.

Also, does anyone else think that Gothic doujin music is intertwined with fantasy-like music? 葉月ゆら, -LostFairy- and even 少女病 may serve as examples.

I was trying to think of a good way to describe the sound and I think that might come close. Fairytale Gothic, which like I said in my previous post, seems like a uniquely Japanese subgenre. 'd love to see examples in other languages if they exist just so I can hear that it's like.

EGL is uniquely Japanese so any music even related to that kind of ideal is Japanese.
Probably also because of Japan's utter obsession with roses, dolls, and Alice in Wonderland gives it a romantic/fairytale type feeling.

Bit of a shame it's not really a thing outside of Japan. Love the look and the overall vibe of EGL stuff. Truly the height of the goth aesthetic.
