Not a whole lot, I think, though it heavily depends on how complicated the gen is, and how lucky I get with both the t2i and i2i processess. In picrel for example I purposefuly didn't do any, but I probably would have manually painted over that weird gap in one of Seija's teeth, just so you know.

I usually do all my stylus work on the t2i result, and then i2i that afterwards, but coincidentaly, I've been having to do a lot of stylus work on i2i outputs lately as well. Sometimes both, even. Either I've been getting unlucky with the i2i or I've gotten pickier with my detailing, can't tell... Here are a few examples if you're curious:

I struggle with backgrounds too, the best tip I've recieved for them is to try to prompt absolutely everything you think you might end up seeing, but even then I still end up having to do a lot of stylus work for them as well most of the time. Editing backgrounds on the t2i output helps a LOT, don't underestimate it.

I'm using wai-nsfw-illustrious v14, and while t2i works great, i2i and inpainting does not have the intended effect at all. Usually it just changes a handful of pixels here and there, even if my prompt is intentionally made to ruin the original image. What am I missing?

Tip for that! Technically, two-tone_hair governs the entire head's hair colour, which is most likely how you got those white streaks. For coloured inner side of the hair, you want, well, colored_inner_hair. Then, if you tag an additional [colour]_hair alongside the character's regular hair colour, 90% of the time it'll apply that colour to the inner hair. Otherwise, the colour tends to leak from other elements of the picture.

Sanae image was a lucky gen that I liked from the start. Weighed the party hat tag pretty hard to make sure it appeared on both of them. Couple of i2i and here we are. The 2koma was stitched together with 3 images (thought bubble is also it's own image) that were worked on separately. Inpainted some areas like the facial expressions and clothing to try and match the two. Done in the course of 2-3 days or so.

This is what ADetailer/inpainting is for anon.
It's not that it doesn't know how to draw nails, it's that latent space is 64x smaller than actual images, and the VAE which upscales latent space to actual outputs only has 4 channels, limiting small detail fidelity. That's why you have to re-sample small areas on an upscaled canvars, which is what ADetailer or high resolution inpainting does.

As for why you don't see it often, I suspect it's simple. The standard practice of tagging is pretty much antithetical to this angle. You'd have to either NOT tag ANYTHING related to the face, eyes, hairstyle, front of the outfit - or "cheat" by generating multiple_views. Otherwise, the model'll try to twist the character around to reflect those tags. And then there's the issue of a lot of people simply not tagging camera positions, of which this is a more extreme example, at that.

It's not really drama, just a result of 4chan's hack and the contempt of moderators towards Touhou, which was a breaking point for some users. It is a site wide phenomenon that can be seen through a loss in traffic.
Some people moved to greener pastures, however, the 2huAI threads had, during the 2 weeks when 4chan was gone, struggled to establish a place to call home. Some alt chans stood firmly against AI, while others kept them to a specific board. Neither of these layouts really filled the gap, as many genners of /jp/ are Touhou lovers first, AI users second.
That may also be why we try to keep our presence to a relative minimum, respecting the wait until we're at the bottom of the catalog, not fighting to make a thread, and rarely showing our gens outside of these threads unless the situation is particularly fitting, in spite of the inherent controversy AI art gets. I won't get further into the work some people ITT put into making things look good, or any attempt at convincing those firmly against it. That's simply how it is, and I, along with others, are simply happy to have a place we call home, and that is pretty chill.
