Do you regret it and is it your go to weapon for home defense?

Because I would like to get one in the future.

love mine. I love 5.7x28 its half the weight and half the recoil of 9mm. you won't get the armor piercing capability unless you pay $3-10 a round. SBR is not an option and must be done, improves the balance and handling of the weapon significantly. Im small so i find it to be super ergonomic but my friends who are above 5 foot 8 look awkward with it and don't think its as conformable. Height overbore is a bit weird but if you get a design machine optic mount or you get the XF50 its a huge improvement.

Hello anon, it's me with the P90 from that picture. I bought it back in 2018 and SBR'ed it in 2023. I quite enjoy my P90 and it as well as my SP5 are the two guns in my collection that I have the most fun with. Nothing can match the small form factor, lightness and capacity and 5.7 is a really cool round. The ambi design and bottom eject are really nifty and the gun is all flash and noise and no recoil. Everyone always wants to fondle it and shoot it every time I go shooting and with FN ammo it's 100% reliable. It's just a super cool gun. I hope to fucking god we get an FRT soon and I'd unironically be willing to pay a grand for one if it works reliably.

The bad? The trigger kinda sucks but it's light for a bullpup. Reloads are a bit janky. It takes time to learn that safety albeit it's pretty good once you know what direction is what. There's no real good options for slings and the sling setup I have in your picture forces me to carry it across my chest or have it at my side or against my back and have the muzzle flip horizontally and sweep anyone to my side if I start running. Mounting an optic is going to be a headache and every option will have significant tradeoffs. I think the Ring Sight is the slickest option but the glass is kinda dark and the reticle suboptimal for really precise shooting. Zeroing the thing was a real nightmare too. You pretty much are going to have to SBR the thing because the 16" barrel is super lame and messes with the balance of the gun and drilling the pin out of the stupid shroud and then swapping the barrel out is certainly an experience. American Eagle and Fiocchi ammo will infrequently cause stoppages because they're pathetically weak loaded and because 5.7 has such a tiny powder charge any variance can cause cycling issues.

I do not regret my purchase and I've had it sitting beside my bed before for a home defense gun. I regularly take it on woods walks because of how compact and handy it is and I like it

You literally don't get any AP capability no matter how much you pay, given the fact 5.7 is a meme round born out of pure european "decision by committee" retardation. The reason it never got adopted is because by the time the engineers figured out a way to make what the bureucrats that have never even seen a gun sort of almost theoretically work, Russia had already graduated out of making ballistic plates out of melted down cutlery, making the entire project 110% obsolete & dead. The only sort of neat feature of the P90 is the magazine, but that's held in patent limbo.

This was my setup before I sbr'ed it. Back when dual illumination RMRs were still cool lmao. I just hid the abomination 16" barrel with a fake suppressor shroud. At least we're back to 2018 ammo prices are roughly .40-.50 a round. But still, I hope it drops cheaper

No regrets, even though I live in CA and have to get the CA cucked compliant version.
Itโ€™s not my primary choice for home defense nor would it be in my top 5. I tend to not think of what would be the most suitable for home defense or hunting or other โ€œreal worldโ€ scenario use case when I buy my firearms, I just buy whatever just interests me.
I own the PS90 and also the Fiveseven.

there's plenty of expensive FN ap rounds and random exotic solid copper civilian market rounds that'll zip through IIIA soft armor and helmets out of a pistol and out of a P90 most of the FN blue tip stuff as well as even AAC 40 gr FMJ will readily go through those thanks to the extra velocity

I think it's looks cool with good AR controls and it's nice that it's a bit more complicated than straight blowback but it's discontinued and looks like it'd be very expensive. I'm also not too sure what I think about .45 ACP in a PCC/SMG-- seems like it's not particularly taking advantage of the longer barrel to squeeze some extra velocity/range out of it and I can't really speak for what the recoil impulse would be compared to something lighter like 9mm or 5.7. .45 ACP also isn't much cheaper than 9mm subsonic ammo if you're a suppressor nerd

Now the job market has collapsed after wuflu and AI/LLM has stalled any new hires and will take awhile to stabilize to see where the software dev job will go towards when they are looking for specific developers/expertise, so Iโ€™m just gonna stay at this job until then.

I regret it because of the magazines. They absolutely suck ass to load, and not just because of the 50 count. They require too much force to load, even with an assist tool. It's basically a meme gun where you load the mags at home and when you run out at the range, you pack it up or have to sit there for 20 mins reloading them. Takes 3x longer per round with an assist tool than it does to hand load a single round of 5.56 in a normal mag.

It doesn't really matter though, it isn't enough difference to make a difference. 5.7 is MAYBE as effective as 9mm from a same length barrel, and that's ignoring the meme loads for 9mm.

I cannot justify a PDW outside of the context of war. Like, just get a handgun or a rifle. PDW is serving a niche that does not exist outside of the context of war. Like, are you a trucker or tank crew who might get ambushed and need something compact to fire enough rounds at the enemy to make them duck while you make your escape?

Hope you don't live in a faggot state then. Where I live, you can't legally sbr a p90 unless you lengthen the stock to meet an arbitrary length requirement. I settled for an ar57 since the long barrel ps90 looks gay.

PS90 thread thought Iโ€™d get some advice. Picked up a shallow mount from design machine and a Holosun AEMs pro sight, but have had a bitch of a time trying to zero it. Even with the vertical aspect turned all the way down at 15yds rounds still hitting about a foot above target. Ive seen people use this setup before, is there something Iโ€™m missing? I know height above bore is much higher than usual compared to an AR but when I wrote holosun their response was basically โ€œzero at 50 yds and see if that worksโ€. Idk about you but I don't have a single line of sight in my house thats 50yds long

>Idk about you but I don't have a single line of sight in my house thats 50yds long
I would just go to my local gun range or if possible go to some BLM land and setup a longer distance range.
I also recommend a 50yd zero, it is what I have my PS90 zeroed to and I have a XPS3 mounted on the stock FN pic rail: >>63817422
I can't say I had that much difficulties with zero at a shorter distance than 50yds, I went with a starting point of 25yds using ss197 or ss195 and it was able to zero to that just fine and then taking it out to 50yds was a breeze.
Try getting a laser bore sight and see if you can get the RDS to align with the laser pointer or just to see how far off you are without wasting anymore ammo.

Because the temper in this case would be fucked and you'd know, if you could see tension lines, it looks like a starter kit for turning the end of the barrel into a pretty (worthless) flower sculpture. Perhaps a bit abstract but still. Even crowning it encourages the new crown to pit and flake.

I used one of these cheapo knockoffs, and since it does not need to be super precise i.e only need to get it on paper at 15-25yds, it works good enough: https://www.amazon.com/EZshoot-BoreSighter-Caliber-Pistols-Shotguns/dp/B0874FJS7Q
The SiteLite does seem to be way better design but I just don't have a need to spend that much on one.

How do you know how much play to leave in the barrel? Most videos just show someone cranking the new barrel down and then trying to back it off a little which seems to defeat the purpose or torquing it.

Also can you order the short barrel without the approval, so long as you wait to install it?

A P90 probably is a very capable home defense weapon as this is sort of the scenario it was designed for. The PS90 less so, as it lost the main design features that make the P90 do what it does best.
It's the same for most of these civilian versions of PDWs.
