Any of you distinguished gentlemen CC in a fanny pack? I was looking into doing so but the available products are either zippered (yeah good luck with that if you need your gun) or mallninja looking (muh molle webbing and velcro)/ungodly expensive (pic related). I like to stand up paddle board during the summer and I want to fanny pack carry because I like to leave my car behind and take my bike to the lake with my board on a rack, it's good exercise and fresh air time.

I carried one of these guys, a Cotopaxi hip pack thing, at a convention once.
The outer "pocket" is completely open air so i just toss a gun, usually my p365 but sometimes a revolver, in there.
Sure, if i were to start breakdancing in public my gun would fall out but otherwise its fine and it comes in a ton of dumb camping/hiking colors instead of tactical shit.

Funfact: i lost my wallet cause it fell out or got pickpocketed or i just misplaced it or something, but my gun was fine. If you wear it on your hip tight enough its secure enough.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I was looking at old convention/event swag on ebay to see if I could just sew something to a completely inconspicuous fanny pack but most of them have really flimsy straps and are zipper only, no velcro or mag closure pouches.

What do you think I'm wearing while I'm riding a bike down the trail from my house to the lake in the summer to go paddleboarding, dumbass? It's called a bathing suit and a t-shirt, or no shirt at all.

Au contraire, bitches love going paddleboarding and aren't monkeybrained enough to think a fanny pack is unusual while doing so. It's very common for surfers and paddleboarders to use fanny packs where I'm from.

Carrying in a fanny pack is worse than how spics 'pack they glickies' in some saggy pants and I say that as someone who bought a tactical fanny pack and wear it daily for keeping my stuff in, get a good kydex holster for your sidearm like a man

Iโ€™ve been a fan of my pacsafe crossbody bag. 2.5L volume is enough for a full-size handgun, snacks, and space to get my hand in quickly.

I prefer having zippers. If you donโ€™t want them you can simply leave them undone. But Iโ€™m always adjusting based on circumstance.

Lack of zipper, makes it more difficult. Personally I just use a normal one in practice, unzipping it. The same way Iโ€™ve practiced getting a shirt or jacket out of the way for a conventional draw..

I have a memory of a fanny pack but with a velcro or magnet pouch that you can just stick your hand into and rip it open as you pull the gun out instead of a zipper, with a velcro attachment for a holster inside. It seems like that exists because I saw it somewhere once but I can't find it anymore.

I use a fanny pack and it's fine. Zippers are fine you'll never draw in anger anyway its good enough. Literally any fanny works. I have one from whatever brand that has a lizard on it.

Alternatively you can use a velcro belt, like an inner belt for a battle/war belt, and just wear that around your waist under your shorts. Its not that uncomfortable but I wouldn't hike in it. The only hiking strategy is a fanny, open carry, or something built into your pack or some shit because anything else will be painfully uncomfortable and will cause actual injurie and trar your skin off.

I do it sometimes when i cant be assed to wear a belt but also dont want to pocket carry. after fucking with it a bit i think the zipper really isnt the problem, you can do that surprisingly quick. I would suggest taking off one of the zipper tassel things though so you just have the one to grab. Grip it and rip it, pretty easy and fast to actually get to the gun. The real problem I've run in to is getting the gun out of the holster, common wisdom is to anchor it to the fanny pack with cordage and just draw it out, this is pretty unreliable in practice though and can require some "draw acrobatics" to ensure and im really not a fan of it. Stuff like the whole pack rotating instead of the gun coming out is a common occurence, even if it only sorta happens youre now doing weird shit like having to use your offhand to pull the holster off or starting your presentation from your arm pit area but a bit lower. Honestly found it better to just strip the holster quickly with the offhand. Sounds worse than it is though, you can put your off hand on the zipper and main hand right next to the bag, use your off hand to pull the zipper half open, grap grip of gun with main hand, rotate offhand down and its now naturally on the top of your holster, then draw. Maybe im just retarded though, its definitely not ideal but its what works for me when i need to fanny pack carry.

I use one when doing work around the house or when hiking/fishing, but I always keep it front and center.
>good luck unzipping it
Not an issue at all. Just remove one of the 2 pull tabs on the zippers of the main compartment, add heatshrink to the remaining one to make it stiff and easy to grab, and then just train drawing from it. It's no slower than moving a shirt out of the way when carrying aiwb. They're the perfect size for an ifak+tq, pistol+spare mag, and some snacks. I wouldn't rock one in public though.

I have my AIWB draw down one handed, I'd ideally like to be able to do that with a pack. We're on /k/ so I know people don't need to justify carrying here, we do it because we can, but one of the primary reasons I'm trying to work out a good way to carry for my short bike ride to the lake is that "people" have started dumping fighting dogs/bait dogs in the woods nearby and I encountered a random pit bull a couple of weeks ago while on my dirt bike and it tried to give chase. Never have seen that out here before, and don't know if I could outrun one on a bike that has a paddleboard on the side.

I do. But I live in a city and don't stand out like a sore thumb for carrying one. Vertx sells something call "Vertx Tactigami" which you can use on your holsters to make them compatible with anything that velcro-backed. So I can basically fit any kydex holster I've got in my fanny pack. Current rotation includes:

That's an interesting product. It isn't too hard to form kydex and make a custom velcro-backed holster though. I previously made a taco style holster that mounted to bent piece of flat stock with a hole drilled in it. It bolts to the support under the dash of my truck. Built in holster.
