If you make a habit of shooting other people's animals at the dog park expect things to go badly for you in various ways right away. If it's THAT dangerous then don't go and/or pursue avenues of reform if it's in any way public, and even if private pressure them.

.380, .38, and even .32 will make quick work of all but the largest dogs. Most shitbulls are on the small side so you don't need a handcannon, just get something with good sights so you can practice making center-mass shots on a moving target. The LCP Max is a good option.

Pepper spray is extremely shit, it may work on normal dog breeds, but pitbulls are most likely going to power through it if they're in a frenzy, they usually do.

OP if you're that worried about shitbulls you should carry something like a tent stake. Dogfighters use what is known as a "break stick" to wedge between their shitbulls' jaws to pry them open when they want them to release their bite. It doesn't hurt the dog. It's better to at least try to use something like this to break up a dog fight so you don't have to deal with the cops for shooting some shitty dog.

I don't know, maybe because OP's first question was to ask what gun was best to shoot other dogs at a dog park... a place where most of the time, law abiding dog owners take their dogs to run around and play. Dog parks are rarely the place where you would be most likely to run into an aggressive dog, unless it's in the hood. We can infer that OP doesn't live in the hood for 2 reasons.
1, golden retrievers are expensive dogs. If OP can afford one,

A pitbull got away from its owner (a pit mommy) at petsmart while I was dropping my dog off to get a haircut. Damn thing went for my dog, but latched my wrist as I swatted it. My dog chewed its nuts off while I stabbed it in the eyes with a wire brush I was gonna get. Vet ended up putting it down and the bitch had the audacity to sue me.

Judge dismissed it with prejudice and ordered her to pay medical, but that sucked. I get that pitbulls are a thing, whatever, but they're fighting dogs. Keep them in the fighting pits and away from the goddamn strip mall where kids are running about.

I don’t like it when people make this argument about Pitbulls and their temperament. It’s like “so the Pitbull’s ground state is tearing out the throats and faces of toddlers, but if you do everything right and curse god and Darwin and put in infinity energy in raising your land shark, maybe he won’t kill your kid.”

And desu it’s not even really an issue of aggression (though I think I’ve seen somewhere that pits are, on avg, more aggressive) it’s that pitbull aggression has consequences. It is recorded as an emergency room visit everytime it happens, vs when a chihuahua chimps out and attempts to murder you by attacking your ankles.

There ought to be a general rule of pet-ownership that one should not keep an animal that the smallest and weakest person in their house can not kill.

Yeah the presence of toddlers kinda pokes a big hole in my rule of thumb. You wouldn’t get rid of the animal just cause you have a kid, but you probably also wouldn’t/shouldn’t leave them alone unattended.

My rule mostly applies to dumbass women and their 100lbs dogs that can pull them and thrash them around at will, but who feel safe because “teehee he’s on a leash, that means he’s under my control”. These dogs are usually Pitbulls, and if the pitbull sees another dog across the street, it’s fucking over, that bitch is pulling some G’s and going flying.

Also applies to retarded men keeping dangerous exotic pets like tigers. I briefly knew this family of whites from somewhere in the south, moved to California, had small children in the house and kept a FUCKING PET ALLIGATOR!

A little over a decade ago I took my friends pitbull out for a walk and got a taste of just how strong these fuckers are. The pit was almost able to overpower/drag me as she turned herself into a missile and honed in on some other pedestrian’s small dog. I was not prepared for that type of strength.

A gun only attracts cops, looking for easy open and shut cases. And busting your face in is the easieast case.
