What sword is this? Looks neat, almost like a tachi on a cav saber hilt.

i liked those epic lyrics for the military song!

Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Hoo, they only answer, "More, more, more, more"

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one

There are some early sabers that go wide and straight like that; still, that is REALLY wide. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an old (renaissance era) blade that was reground and fitted to newer hardware (or someone making a replica that emulated that).

The French 1822 look something like that imo. Kind of like a tachi as OP said or certain kinds of dao.

Unironically would buy a replica of this if Windlass did one (maybe not CS). Would prefer a wood or leather scabbard though.

It's an AN XIII French cuirassier saber with the original clip point blade. Fairly rare since most clip point AN XIII blades were turned into spear points in the field.
I wonder how it got here? Maybe a trophy taken by a Brit during the Peninsular War and then captured by an American during the War of 1812?

I definitely like the drop point design better. Anyone make a decent replica? Doesn't need to be Albion quality, just good enough (i.e. not Jeetpeeka)

said nobody ever.
Anon, Google is only useful when you're smart enough to filter the bullshit out of the search results. How about you consult actual books or museums about Japanese swords instead?

They don't really have an edge to speak of. The last inch or 2 of the point is all you could feasibly sharpen on it because the rest of the edge is so wide and the angle is so big.
They're also huge and heavy compared to most other sabers and not really conducive to any sort of sparring or anything in that realm. Get a different saber if you want to do that sort of thing.

Didn't watch it, was there a Vietkino parade with non-regulated uniforms, M16A1s, Hueys flying and platoons dragging jungle Asians to be shot/gangraped?
