Hypothetically speaking, how would you defend your country's airspace from the F-35 and other modern western stealth aircraft?
radar seems to be useless, so what to do exactly? visual observation? just have interceptors patroling in the air? ban cousin marraige?

By not being an autocratic shit hole that constantly antagonizes the countries that can build or buy shit like the F-35.
>but le glorious islamic/people's democratic/worker's/ ungabunga republic
Just don't be a shit hole that antagonizes your betters. Look at Belgium. Belgium couldn't do a fucking thing if France or Germany decided to roll over them AGAIN . So what do they do? They don't piss them off constantly.

You get better radar. Radar vs. stealth is like weapons vs. armor, it's a never-ending battle of oneupsmanship.

Thats honestly the most practical step than any answer you would get. If you dont have the economy, industrial capacity and knowledge base required to combine all these together, then you can do fuck all except give out rifles to your populace and start the guerilla war when the better country comes across your border. Maybe they should try being friendly like >>63840855 suggested? Then horde everyone's gold like Switzerland so nobody really fucks with you.

Iran already announced they were stopping sales to Russia immediately and asked for aid. Of course none is forthcoming.

OP didn't ask how to win a fight, he asked how to defend your airspace. "Not giving anyone a reason to violate your airspace in the first place" is a valid answer.

Not really, you could have a fuckhuge radar but unless you have one so large that it's completely immobile or on a large ship then you aren't going to be able to track a modern stealth aircraft outside of the range that it can fuck you up even with something unpowered like an SDB

There pretty much isn't shit you can do, if you can create a distributed networked IRST system across your entire country with sensors every few miles that are all linked to a number of L-band search radars then you can probably cue IR missiles to attack those stealth fighters, but you would need a lot of operators to be checking for the constant false positives you'd be getting from those sensors from things like civil aircraft and what not. Maybe an AI trained for pattern recognition to cut down on likely false positive detections would be useful to reduce the number of operators watching this distributed cluserfuck would help but either way it's gonna be an expensive network

Ok faggots you want an answer? Be a country capable of building something like the F-35, be capable of building it at industrial scale, and be capable of doing it all in house.
>that still doesn't answer the question
Yes it does. If you can't build a modern stealth aircraft at industrial scale completely domestically then there's not a fucking thing you can do stop a country that can from fucking you up whenever it wants, for whatever reason it decides. The only option is don't start that fight in the first place.

You could also install a fuckton of sensors for passive systems but that would realistically be a supplement with the downsides of massive gaps in less developed areas, highly reactive, and technically turn any building hosting a sensor into a legitimate target.

A lot of emitters intermittently broadcasting a very precise time/location signal and a bunch of separate receivers listening for the signal and filtering anything that's arrived by too short a path. Each signal received is going to give you a shell where something could possibly be to reflect X signal in Y time. Solve for the intersection points, of the shells.

Can't tell you how the fuck you'd build that, and you'd need to figure out how to harden it so it can't trivially be spoofed by ECM. But I think that's the basic concept.
