War isn't inherently wrong, there is such thing as just war, the problem is that no modern war is a just war. Literally 100% of modern war is serving the interests of shadowy entities that don't care about you or your nation.
That's why so many people love the Rhodesian Bush War, beyond the cringey racism angle, normies support the Rhodesian effort because it was a just cause to defend their way of life from a genuine communist backed insurrection and terrorism.

Honestly? My back is no longer what it used to be, so fucking around in the woods dodging drones in combat gear would probably fuck it up permanently.

Probably would get called back into service sooner or later, though my wartime position would probably be somewhere near the high command position, so unless someone fucks up something extremely badly, my potential demise would be gloriously quick by getting blown the fuck up by missile salvo.

Because in most wars, you don't really die "fighting". As a civilian you'll probably just get bombed, or starve, or get sick.
As a soldier you'll most likely die from artillery or a shitty drone strike. There's nothing heroic or epic about that.

Only morons in the safety of their first world bubble, having forgotten what reality is like, will romanticize war. I’ve never been anywhere near it but I think I am correct in saying that war is hell. Your experience with war is not gonna be one of popping enemy skulls with the boys, taking 0 casualties/injuries, and taking war brides as trophies/spoils. For every one guy whose experience with war takes that form, there are 100 who unceremoniously get blown up in trenches.

If you want a higher chance of romance, invade some African nation where force parity is like 1 White per 10 Bantus. Not sure if you want their war brides though.
