Which gun should I get as my first gun?
A revolver, a pistol, a rifle, or an over/under shotgun? Just going to use it for fun.

Get something sold in parts that you can easily assemble yourself, like a stripped Glock/Sig frame or AR receiver. The components are sold everywhere and you shouldn't need more than basic tools to slap them all together. Learning the ins and outs of how every part in your gun works by DIYing it will benefit you tremendously in the long run.

I was a retarded 21 year old and bought the .50AE Desert Eagle as my first gun. Recoil wasn't that bad because it's so fucking heavy. I quickly sold it because I couldn't conceal the thing because it was almost 8 pounds and my pants would sag no matter how tight i cinched by belt

AR for fun/dirt shooting and defense if need be. Glock/m&p/similar 9mm for fun/dirt shooting, defense if need be. Pump shotgun cause cheap and make moar gooders dirt shooting and defense if need be. If you want bolt gun for fun axis 2 or Ruger American in a retarded caliber to make much noise and shoot dirt.

Whatever you think looks cool. Looking cool and having fun are the most important parts of gun ownership. That being said, it's hard to go wrong with a 10/22 for your first gun.

Buy once, cry once. Best advice available. Buy something you will be satisfied with so you don’t regret your purchase.
For example: do you want a 1911 like all red-blooded Americans? Get one and get a good one. Don’t buy a Glock. It’s not what you want. Don’t buy the cheapest 1911 Tisas offers. Spend a little more on a nicer one that you’ll be happier with. You don’t have to spend a lot of money buying the most expensive one but don’t get a shitty one just because it’s cheaper.
What do you really, really want, anon? Get that.

Find whatever gun you want that's within your budget and just buy it. Don't buy an NPC gun everyone recommends like a Glock 19 or Ruger 10/22 unless that's what you really want. The reason I say this is because if you buy a gun that doesn't actually interest you, you won't feel motivated to practice with it. If you decide you actually want to turn shooting and gun collecting into a hobby, then you can start picking up all the "obligatory" guns recommended by internet commandos.
>t. bought 1911 as my first gun, still prefer it over 9mm plastic crap

i would usually recommend a Glock 19 for a first gun but if you're 100% sure you're never gonna use it outside of messing around in the yard then maybe a 22 like a Ruger mkiv. It will be quieter, easier to learn on, and cheaper to shoot. But you should still really consider a Glock 19 and that's coming from someone who owns 1 Glock out of like 30 handguns.

a full sized 9mm pistol or an AR-15. a revolver can be fun too

a .22 is going to disappoint you because they have the build quality of a toy and shooting them feels like an air rifle just with more noise. I would advise against a compact pistol like a G19 unless you also want something you can conceal carry.

I will edit my response slightly, it doesn't have to be a 10/22 any .22lr repeater would work, just make sure it's American. something like a winchester wildcat is a piece of shit but a henry .22lr would be good to go. you just don't want it to be single shot. a 10/22 just happens to be the basic bitch can't go wrong choice because they are inexpensive, functional and have a lot of aftermarket in case you don't like some part of it and need to modify it later. I have an h004 with skinner peep and post, a red dot mount and like a massive leather cheek riser because the wop who makes skinners loves chin welds

I got an old school lever-action for my first gun, very mechanical, fun to shoot, hard to fuck up. If you get it in .357 you can shoot .38 spl out of it to save a bit of cash. Love it still because the lever just feels engaging. A revolver is fun too but if you're not used to guns and you've got some weak wrists it could be a bit of a shock to start with, and make you develop some bad habits. Frankly the older the better I'd say for a first gun, just because it will feel comfy, and keep most faggots from coming over and asking you why you're using X red dot or not a red dot or where's your foregrip or what sort of gucci twist-rate are you running.

You can either get one gun that can do pretty much anything in a 12 gauge or you can get something retarded like a Keltec anything.

Yeah, I forgot it took that long. I knew it took a while but I didn’t realize it wasn’t until almost the 80s.
But that’s still 1979. Cops were still carrying revolvers then. That’s a whopping 46 years ago.

Cops in my town in the 70s had a weird mix of .357 magnum revolvers, browning hi-powers, and 1st gen S&W 9mms. They all also had Auto 5s, FALs, M16s, riot helmets and flak vests in their cars. The sherrif had a gunboat with a 20mm cannon on it for river patrols, and a Huey with M60s in pods and on the doors. Living in a small town directly along the major coke route for the eastern US meant the cops were geared up for Scarface type shit, but usually just dealt with Andy Griffith type stuff. I remember there was a fugitive hiding out in our area for a while, and the US Marshalls were impressed with the gear and training our hick town boys had. It helped they were all Nam vets as well.
