People are talking about the US invading Iran, but how is that possible? How will they get boots on the ground? We've seen from Ukraine that airpower alone is not enough. I just don't see how it's possible. They would have to deploy the troops from boats which has huge risk to American lives, and the deployment process would be very slow meaning their first wave would be vulnerable. If anything wouldn't a bombing campaign be more likely to happen, not that it will destroy the current Iranian batch of elites.

The Anglo-American bombing campaign didn't topple Germany. I heavily doubt that it would happen for the first time to a nation of this scale.

Russia was never even close to achieving the level of air superiority the Israelis have.

If you're too young for the buildup to the invasion of Iraq, you wouldn't remember this but we'd need another 6-8 months of ground troop buildup at least. When you see trains loaded down with thousands of every conceivable armored vehicle stretching for miles heading from the big U.S. Army bases towards the coasts for boarding onto a fleet of transport ships, then you can panic.

That's what I was thinking, before the war most nations deployed their forces in surrounding nations. There was no great naval invasion. But this time the US can't park their troops in Iraq, Afghanistan or Pakistan. So if war does happen, then it'd have to be by sea which would be incredibly stupid.

Also that isn't happening, so no ground invasion. And if it did happen, there's no way to hide it because it would be literally rolling through cities and interrupting traffic and oh fuck *railroad noises / gates close* and you're stuck for 30 minutes while watching hundreds of tanks, APCs and engineering / logistics / support / whatever crawl their way towards the port of Houston etc.

I'd support it. I support what Israel is doing and I support the President 100 percent. Forget Russia and forget Europe, we have to deal with a terrorist regime like Iran as our biggest threat right now. They should have taken a deal instead of supporting HAMAS and Hezbollah that oppose Israel's right to exist.

Also N.G. would be federalized and troops pulled from the states. It'd be a whole thing, and it's actually impossible for the U.S. Army to conduct an invasion of this size without activating the Guard on large scale thanks to Creighton Abrams' reforms in the 1970s which shunted a lot of the food, fuel, bullets, etc. into the N.G.

I was wrong it is about 100km from China to Taiwan and 12,000km from the US to Iran by sea. But I'm not upset, I think it's just a stupid comparison that irritated me.

It lost because it's military was spent with no possibility of victory. It didn't give up because of bombing campaigns. And I gave that example because it's famous, I could have gone with Vietnam.

No, it didn't give up from the nukes, that's revisionism. At the time Japan wasnt as worried about them, it was more worried about the Soviet Union joining the war.

Federalize them all and use them to put down the anti-Trump protests and then deploy the rest of the armed forces to the Middle East and begin ground operations now. And if that isn't enough, draft the protesting traitors and make them serve since they are too cowardly and anti-American to appreciate this country.
