Why would they build the elevator right at entrance? The tunnel probably goes in deep into the mountain, then the elevator takes you down 90m. Hitting the entrance does nothing but cause a cave in that seals up the entrance, which can be opened back up in a couple days while the people in the bunker chill and build nukes.
