Might as well have used a fictional nation if the underpinnings don't resemble reality. Bushwick, another film about a second ACW, has Texas invading New York which, while ludicrous in concept, is at least grounded in the fact that there is a political divide between Texas and New York. This would be like making a film about an Australian Civil War and have one faction being neo-Aztec theocratic Abbos and the other being techbro corporatocratic commies trying to install Bob Brown as monarch.

The trailers lied and made the movie seem like it was going to be about a second Civil War, instead, it was about how hard journos have it. Cry me a river.

But no. Besides the militias and racist going on murder sprees, nothing about it is accurate, because it gives nothing. Other countries aren't involved whatsoever (which would happen wether Americans wanted it or not), nukes are never brought up, and the President doesn't even make an attempt to leave the country.
